Price cuts and time on market

29% of 274,006 single-unit rentals listed on Zillow had cut their asking rent at least once, by a median $100 (4.3%). The median listing had been on Zillow for 27 days when observed.

Both figures come from Zillow’s own fields on each listing (the latest price change and days on Zillow), so they cover single-unit Zillow listings only: whole apartment buildings, Redfin and ApartmentHomeLiving listings carry no price history or listing date. A listing counts as cut if its most recent price change was a reduction. Days on market are counted up to the day the listing was observed, not until it was rented. Cities and states need at least 30 such listings to show a figure.
