Anyone who has looked for an apartment online knows the problem: listings that are gone, listings that were never real, photos of a different unit, and a rent that changes when you call. The large sites carry enormous inventory and very little verification, because verification does not scale the way listings do.

For listings submitted to us we took the opposite trade: each one is read by a person before it appears, and the checks we ran are shown to you rather than kept in a dashboard. That is a slower way to grow, and it is the only thing that makes a listing here worth more than a listing anywhere else.

• An owner lists it directly. One flat or a whole building, free, no account needed — the link to manage it goes to their email.
• A management company sends a feed. Their software already exports the industry standard format; we read it and keep it in step daily.

Either way it lands in the same review queue, and nothing skips it. What we check is written out in full.

The rental market map and the chat assistant show listings collected from public listing sites: Redfin, Zillow and ApartmentHomeLiving. We have not reviewed them the way we review listings submitted to us. Prices are the asking rents those sites advertised when we collected them, and each listing links back to where it was posted, so confirm price and availability there before you act on it.

Listing is free and will stay free. Landlords can pay to appear higher in results — those listings are labelled as promoted, and paying has no effect on whether a listing passes review.

We do not charge renters to apply, and we do not sell anyone's contact details. Your enquiry goes to the landlord of the home you asked about, and nowhere else.

We are not a broker, a property manager, or a party to your lease. We do not hold deposits or rent, and we never ask anyone to send money through us. The agreement is between you and the landlord; we provide the listing, the enquiry, and the signing record.

We are not a licensed real estate brokerage and nothing here is legal or financial advice. Have a lawyer in your state read a lease before you rely on it.

We comply with the federal Fair Housing Act and equivalent state and local law. Listings are screened for language that describes who should live in a home rather than the home itself, and that wording is removed before publication.
